The  Modern Techniques and Materials Engineering Center located in Cairo, Egypt was established in 1993 by Prof.Dr.Eng. M.A.Rifai and Eng. Haitham Rifai to design, develop and manufacture medical products, especially those made of Titanium. It was the first company to approach this field in Egypt. It all started with a challenge about the possibility of manufacturing those products with limited resources achieving simplicity yet reliability. Nevertheless some complications led to the gradual shift to more complex techniques - including computer aided design, finite element analysis and computer controlled production machines – which led to expanding the resources. The range of products expanded from maxillofacial sets of plates and screws to cover several fields of bone reconstruction and implantation. As material and mechanical engineers, studying some medical concepts and techniques was essential with the help of several medical consultants. The main target was to reach optimum designs with affordable prices and to simplify manufacturing techniques.  Several years of studies and experiments led to achieving this target successfully.
